Content Creation Definitions You Need to Know –

Part 2

If you haven’t done so already, check out Part 1 of this 2-part series.

You’ll find the first 4 definitions for content creation you need to know. But today’s episode is covering the next 6 definitions.

NOTE: If you haven’t already guessed, this episode was broken into two parts so the information didn’t overwhelm you. You’ll all 10 important content creation definitions and their subcategories across Episode 330 & 331 of the podcast.

Definitions Important for Taking Action

If you have a podcast, YouTube, channel or blog where you want people to take action, these definitions are important to understand.

1. Lead Magnet, Value-Added Resource, or Freebie

All of these words are interchangeable and can be used synonymously. But a “lead magnet” is something you offer to your audience in exchange for their email address. (By the way, my email address is one of the biggest assets of my business!)

Learn more about lead magnets in the resources below!

2. Call to Action (CTA)

The most literal definition I can share with you is “asking someone to do something”. Make sure you grab the 25 CTAs freebie here and check out how to make sure your CTAs better in the videos below!

3. Content Calendar

The simple definition is “one place to keep up with ALL of the ways you create content”. And my content calendar is stuff made from legends! I’ve honed it and refined it over the years and have settled on a system I use between Google Sheets and my FAVORITE tool Asana. Watch the video below for a full tutorial of my content calendar.

4. Descriptions and Show Notes

The “above and beyond pieces of content”. Whether it’s a podcast episode or YouTube video description, these hold the extra special goodies that let your audience know that you go above and beyond!

You can include extra resources, YouTube videos, other podcast episodes, or freebies that are related to the content topic. Check out the resources below for more info on how to level up your descriptions and show notes.

5. Funnel

The “journey an audience member goes on as they follow your CTAs”. This could be a sales funnel that ends with a customer making a purchase. Or it could be that your audience gets on your email list!

Here’s an example of the marketing funnel I’ve created for a members-only training.

6. Self-Sponsored Ads

“Promoting your own products, services, events, etc. within your content”. This could be through dynamic or baked-in content on your podcast or incorporated in your videos and blog posts.

The idea is to get your audience used to hearing “ads” so that when your show starts getting millions of downloads (fingers crossed you hit that milestone!) you can show brands and sponsors that your audience takes action when you ask them to.

Plus, you get to sell your own stuff on your content!
