4 Ways to Be More Organized with a Podcast
Podcast organization isn’t one of those super, shiny sexy things that everyone likes to talk about. But I can tell you firsthand that podcast DISorganization is one of those things that can eventually lead to podcast burnout.
And to avoid all of that, I wanted to share with you 4 ways you can be more organized with your podcast to set yourself up for success.
1. Podcast Content Calendar
Having a podcast content calendar is the bare minimum for staying organized with your show. It’s the number one thing that often gets overlooked because podcasters choose to “wing it” instead of having a plan.
Don’t worry, I’m not shaming anyone for not having a content calendar.
I didn’t have a great one when I got started podcasting!
Instead, I wanted to give you some tools and resources for you to develop your own podcast content calendar. I promise that creating even a simple content calendar can help you stay more organized with a podcast.

2. Podcast Files
This area of podcast organization may seem “a little over the top”, but I promise you I no longer have issues finding files for my podcast. And, because this entire podcast episode was inspired by watching The Home Edit on Netflix, I figured it would be fitting to show you a screenshot of my files as I listed them in the episode.
Every folder serves a purpose and I no longer have to sift through and wonder where any of my podcast files are. (Listen to the full episode of the podcast to learn what goes into each folder and how you can use each one to help you be more organized with a podcast.)
3. Systems and Processes
I’ve always been a fan of putting a system in place to make life easier. From how you conduct podcast interviews, create show notes, process transcripts, upload to your hosting site, and more, having a system in place can help you be more organized with a podcast.
In today’s episode, I’m walking you through a quick list of how my main flow of podcast production works so you can get an idea of the baseline of creating a simple podcast system.
4. Automations
Automations are truly the way of scaling and doing more with your podcast. And I understand there are many parts of the podcast process that you simply cannot automate, but we can always take those baby steps into it, right?
The first place I always recommend podcasters start automating their show is with interview scheduling. My favorite tool to schedule interviews is Calendly. It helps you set up healthy boundaries with your podcast and allows your guests to easily schedule a time that works for them.

At the end of the day, the best way to keep enjoying your podcast – long after the honeymoon phase wears off – is to be more organized with your show. This doesn’t mean color-coding and overhauling all of your current processes. But it does mean making sure you’ve set yourself up for success.
Take a few of these tips today and decide which ones you can start implementing into your own podcast.
