WHAT’S THIS EPISODE ABOUT?

Let’s Geek Out on SEO and Websites for Podcasts…

In my conversation with today’s guest, Ryan Cote, we had a great discussion about SEO and websites for podcasts. One of the first questions I had to ask (because I know my new podcasters want to know) was, “Why do I need a podcast website?”

We talked about how WordPress.org is Ryan’s go-to recommendation for anyone that’s trying to create a website that’ll have great SEO!

“I always recommend WordPress, because it’s the most flexible… – Ryan

We even dove a little into the basics terms and key phrases of what SEO and websites for podcasts really mean. For example, “Ranking on Google”. Let’s break down what it means to rank on Google.

“…ranking on the search engines…it means that when someone’s doing a keyword search, that your site is one of the choices to choose from. One of the, you know, the search result listings…” – Ryan

And then SEO, one of the questions I get asked about a lot, simply means “search engine optimization”. (Make sure you check out the previous SEO for Podcasts episode here.)

Let’s About Some of Ryan’s Favorite Tools for SEO & Keyword Search

Ryan mentioned several tools he likes to use in his business and with clients, so I wanted to drop the links here in case you wanted to check them out:

“…you’re looking for a tool that will show you…you put in your root keyword…and then it’ll spit out all keywords that are related to [keyword] that contain [keyword] that are related. And then how many people search for them per month.

How competitive they are for SEO? Because I mean, the honest truth is that some keywords are just, they’re never going to rank for…unless you have like a 15-year timeframe, you know, to get there. But it’ll show you how competitive the keywords are. So you want to start with one of those tools.” – Ryan
