WHAT’S THIS EPISODE ABOUT?

What is Chartable?

Chartable is a fantastic podcast platform that can help you see where your podcast lands on the Apple Podcast Charts. You can explore other charts to see where your podcast lands, but most people are referring to Apple Podcast Charts when they say, “I have a top 100 podcast.” (That’s not ALWAYS the case, but it is most of the time.)

But the short story version is…it’s a place to quickly see how your podcast is ranking on “the charts”.

Chartable vs. Podcast Hosting Site

Your Podcast Hosting Site has different stats that what you see on Chartable. And by “different”, I mean…you should rely more on your podcast host’s stats than what Chartable has. Here’s why:

Your podcast host encompasses ALL stats.

Chartable includes stats after you’ve connected all your platforms.

So one defaults to where your podcast already shows up…your podcast hosting site. And the other encompasses the places you’ve connected through their platform.
But the short story version is…it’s a place to quickly see how your podcast is ranking on “the charts”.

I mainly use it to see where my podcast ranks within my podcast category.

How to Use the Stats from Chartable

I’d love for you to use your chart info for marketing your podcast. For example, my podcast – “The Proffitt Podcast” – has ranked multiple times in the TOP 100 for my podcast category. (It even peaked at #23!)

So, I could use that information to tell people, “I have a podcast that regularly charts in the TOP 100 of my podcast category and has even made it into the TOP 25!”

How you use the stats you get from Chartable will be up to you, but I want to be very clear that you should always come from a place of integrity!

I’m a firm believer in karma and if you “fudge the numbers” or say that you’re something you’re not, it will come back to bite you in the butt! So, be honest. Be true. Don’t lie about your stats. That’s not cool, dude!

Use Chartable to Find Podcasts to Guest On

The last way I LOVE to use Chartable is to find podcasts (within your category) to be a guest on. These are already podcasts that have the potential to have similar audiences as yours (if both of you are in the right category), and it also shows you who is ranking where on the platforms.

But you also have to realize that podcasts that are in the TOP 10 of your category may be harder to be a guest on. Keep that in mind, but it’s definitely worth a shot!
