How to Get Guests to Share Your Content
It’s frustrating, and I hear you.
Whether it’s a podcast interview, YouTube video, or live stream, there have been many instances where I’ve had an interview with a guest and I wish things had gone differently. Maybe we had an incredible conversation (IG story-worthy at the very least), but my guest didn’t even reshare what I tagged them on to their social accounts.
Or, I was left wondering, “Are they going to email this interview to their audience?”
I know what it’s like firsthand when your content enthusiasm isn’t shared with your interviewee.
But is it really their fault?
At the end of the day, it’s up to the content creator to make sure that their guests are set up for success to share the content you created together.
Let’s talk about a few ways to set your guests up for success.
Set Up a System for Success…
What you’re really trying to accomplish is the likelihood that your guest will be excited to share the content you’ve created together. And the best way to do that is to take away all the excuses they’d have NOT to share the content. Excuses like…
“I don’t know what to say.”
“What am I supposed to do?”
“Do I just reshare whatever you’ve tagged me in?”
They may not know what to do.
You need a system in place that tells them:
1. Exactly what to do
Calls-to-action, show notes, listen to the podcast, watch the live stream, etc.
2. How to share
Send an email to their list, tag you on social media, share a soundbite in IG stories, etc.
3. When to share with their audience
Specific date when the interview goes live or (if it’s a live stream) the day of so that more people attend the event live
