Why You Need a Podcast Audit

Getting feedback on your podcast is important!

This is especially true if you’re a podcaster that feels like you’re in the weeds of the everyday grind of creating your content. But one of the main reasons why you need a podcast audit is because an outsider’s perspective can give you some insight into what other potential listeners are experiencing when they stumble across your show for the very first time.

Having done more than 20+ podcast audits in the last 12 months, I wanted to bring to you today some of the reasons why those that applied for me to look at their content and give them expert level feedback submitted their application.

Why Podcasters Want an Audit…

These are actual responses I received on the intake form for podcast audits in 2021.

Here’s how the question read on the podcast audit application:

“Why are you submitting your podcast to be audited? (Please include additional information or questions you have here.)”

And here are the responses from a few of those individuals audited:

  1. I struggle with a strong intro (and music). When I listen back it sounds too scripted and boring. Also, should I include a sound bite or a personal summation first?
  2. I am seeing a steady decline in my listeners. I am seeing some very loyal listeners and have good engagement but the number of listeners is decreasing. I want to get better at my podcasting skill. I absolutely respect your podcasting model. I want to learn more about good content and marketing.
  3. It would be great to have an expert eye (and ear!) look and listen to it
  4. My organic growth is slow, would love some honest feedback.
  5. Episode 40 today and I have very few downloads/followers… would love to see this number rise!
  6. Hopefully to be able to improve the way that I can connect with my audience. Obviously, we all want growth, but I want to create quality content that is easy to digest, no matter who you are.
  7. I have no idea what I’m doing, I just was winging it and made a podcast one day out of nowhere.
  8. Looking for areas of improvement.
  9. To get additional tips for me being a better podcaster. Also, to get a little validation that I’m headed in the right direction.
  10. I just want to know if my target audience is narrow enough and if my content connects to them the way I hope it does. I also would love some direction with my branding!
  11. I would like feedback as far as structure, appeal if there is a connection with my audience, and how likely people are to check back in
  12. Always trying to get better results in the search engines
  13. I feel comfortable with my show, but have never gotten an outsider’s perspective who is actively a podcaster.

If you’ve looked at any of these responses and thought, “Yes! That’s why I want someone to look at my podcast too!”…

Then I invite you to learn more about our brand new program, The Poddy People™ Co-Op. Members each get an expert-level podcast audit with me; plus, when you join us when enrollment is open in Jan 2022, you get a 1:1 coaching session with me outside as well are 6-weeks of group coaching sessions with other motivated podcasters.

**Enrollment is open from Jan 18 – 24, 2022! So don’t wait…
