Episode 299
Start a Binge-Worthy Podcast, One Year Anniversary
Learn from the Best!
I can’t take all the credit for the success of this book!
Just like any large project that takes a long time to get off the ground, this book wasn’t created overnight. In fact, I participated in multiple book launches leading up to the launch of Start a Binge-Worthy Podcast. (I like to learn from other people’s mistakes if it means I can shorten my own learning curve.)
And there has been a ton of value in being a part of large book launches for authors who’ve gone on to come become New York Times Best Selling Authors, including:
- Rachel Cruze
- Christy Wright
- Chris Hogan
- Jamie Kern Lima
- Marie Forleo
- Ruth Soukup
And each of these launches had a new lesson, a different spin, and wonderful behind-the-scenes that helped me learn more about the book publishing process – even though I was self-publishing my own book.
Why I Wrote This Book
I had the idea and it was the right time for it to be created.
While the idea for this book first came to me in September 2019 , the timeline for publishing the book seems a lot more fast and furious than that. When a good idea comes to me, I grab it and run with it.
The struggles of podcasting aren’t often shared in a way that provides practical solutions. I wanted Start a Binge-Worthy Podcast to be a relatable journey for podcasters to follow — infused with real life stories and examples — rather than a boring “do this, then that” how-to checklist.
Behind the Scenes of Writing and Launching
Learn from my lessons and mistakes.
I’m so proud of how the whole process of the book unfolded, although I would have loved for different circumstances. Deciding to launch a book during an election year — or in the middle of a global pandemic — is something I definitely don’t want to repeat in the future.
But at the end of the day, my biggest goal was achieved: Amazon Best Seller.
Make sure you listen to the episode to hear more about the in-depth lessons learned and how I used Asana to help me prepare to launch the book 12 months before it happened.
Don’t be afraid to infuse stories.
When you’re trying to differentiate your content from anyone else’s — be it a podcast, book, etc. — the best way to stand out is by telling your own stories. Start a Binge-Worthy Podcast is infused with stories, funny antidotes, and experiences that most podcasters face at some point on their journey.
