Is Your Podcast Ready for the Next Level?

Settling Into a New Routine

We all go through seasons of life…

Whether you have little kids, school-aged kids, or live alone, you can relate to going through different seasons of life. I’m settling into the season where all three of my kids are now in school. And I recently found myself asking the question…

“Is your podcast ready for the next level?”

When I have a question — or someone else in our community has a question — there’s usually at least 10-12 more of you out there asking the same thing. So today, we’re talking about when to know it’s time to take your podcast to the next level.

3 Questions to Ask Yourself

And you’ve got to be honest!

I’ve always been a fan of pros and cons list. It’s what my husband – Seth – and I use to help us make major life decisions. When it comes to your podcast being ready for the next level, there are 3 important questions to ask:

  • Is it time?

  • Is it experience?

  • Is it a feeling?

Now, let’s break all of these down.

1. Is it time?

Seasons of your podcast will change and evolve over time. You’ll have times when you are fully devoted to starting and launching your podcast. Then you’ll move into promoting your podcast as your figure out what your audience responds to. And as you continue to create content, you’ll figure out how to create the best episodes for your audience.

You’ll know when it’s time to take your podcast to the next level when the time feels right to you and your schedule.

2. Is it experience?

Depending on your podcast topic and the level of knowledge, you may need more experience to feel comfortable getting to the next level.

I wouldn’t have been comfortable teaching podcasting until I had done it for a while.

So you don’t want to level up too fast, but you also don’t want to be complacent in your comfort zone.

3. Is it a feeling?

I’m a big believer in intuition and knowing when things are right for me, my podcast, and my business. Asking yourself and doing a “check-in” often to see if you’re ready can help you decipher when it’s your time to take your podcast to the next level.

“For me, it’s a combination of people asking me to level up and feeling like called to this higher standard, this higher version of myself.

It is a feeling because it’s uncomfortable. It’s uncomfortable, it’s vulnerable.

It feels like something that’s like, Oh, this is new. But it’s exciting. It’s also very exciting. So it’s like a roller coaster of emotions, for sure whenever you’re getting ready to level up.” – Krystal Ep. 287

What Does it Look Like to Level Up Your Podcast?

Here’s what it’s looked like for my community.

Taking things to the next level will look different for everyone. But here is how I see most podcasters taking their show to the next level:

  • Growing and scaling
  • Guesting on other shows
  • Monetizing with products and services
  • Outsourcing tasks and specific content-related steps
  • Growing a team to help you with every day items
