PodFest Masterclass Talk

My recent PodFest Masterclass talk with an absolute hit! I had a blast, the audience was totally engaged, and I walked off stage feeling I nailed it! And I wanted to share the whole experience with this community. So, here’s where we’re going today:

1. What is PodFest?

2. 5 Tips for Finding Virtual Stages

3. My PodFest Talk Highlights: Before, During, & After

What is PodFest?

“Simply stated, Podfest Master Class is an extension of Podfest Multimedia Expo, one of the longest running and tightest-knit communities of podcasters in the world! Podfest Expo is a community of people who are interested in and passionate about sharing their voice and message with the world through the powerful mediums of audio and video. We’re proud to unite as many people as possible to learn, get inspired, and grow better together.” PodFest Global

5 Tips for Finding Virtual Stages

Let’s dive into the tactical tips I took away from this experience of reaching out to an organization I knew I wanted to align with:

1. Have organizations on your “dream stage” list!

  • By having PodFest on my radar, I knew that I’d be a good fit and be ready to go if an opportunity to collaborate with them came up.
  • Thinking about my “dream stages” helped me get out of my comfort zone and really think BIGGER when it came to where I wanted to show up as a guest speaker.

2. Get on Email Lists & Follow Social Accounts

  • Because PodFest has been on my radar, I wanted to stay in the loop with their events. By being on their email list and following them on Instagram, I was ready to go when they called for speaker submissions for their Masterclass event.
  • And because I’d been following their content, I knew exactly what they were looking for with this event!

3. Know Their Audience

  • I was able to get an inside look at their audience and really understand who follows PodFest as well as who their target audience was just by hanging out in their world.

4. Cater to THEIR Audience

  • While I can sit and talk about using your podcast for your online business – what we talk about around here all the time, that’s NOT what they were looking for.
  • The Masterclass event was catered to helping brand new podcasters gain knowledge to help them get started. So, I approached my pitch and my presentation with those things in mind.

5. The Pitch Process

  • Let’s talk about what the pitch process looked like and break down exactly what I did to land this incredible speaking opportunity!

My PodFest Talk Resources

Let’s dive into what I did to pitch this talk to PodFest. Here is my actual application information I submitted:
