WHAT’S THIS EPISODE ABOUT?
You Will Be Pitched…
Whether you just started your podcast or you’ve been doing this a while, at some point you will be pitched for someone to come on as a podcast guest for your show.
And I’m here to tell you, “You DO NOT have to say yes to every single one of them!”
In today’s episode, I’m sharing with you some of the random pitches I’ve gotten, ones that are cringe-worthy, and even an example given to me by a friend…
Who received the exact, verbatim pitch as me.

What Matters Most in Your Podcast Guests
No matter who you invite on to your show or consider as potential podcast guests, there needs to be a few considerations you take for every single one of them. Let’s dive into each one of them:
1. Stay True to the Integrity of Your Show
This one should be obvious, but for those of you who are new to my passion for podcasting, this one is for you. Your podcast is sacred. I know, it’s dramatic. But it’s also true. And how I’ve kept the integrity of my podcast intact for more than 100+ episodes.
You need to make sure that all of your podcast guests’ missions and values align with your own.
Why?
Because people can see right through your show when you’re trying to make it about anything but the audience. People can feel your agenda. People can spot something outside of integrity a mile away.
So make this a core principle you focus on with your podcast.
2. Keep Your Audience in Mind (Always!)
Your podcast isn’t about you. You know that, right? Like, you understand that to your core…hopefully.
The reason why this is important is that your podcast guests need to know it’s not about them either.
Your podcast is there to add value to your audience every single week. Period. The end.
3. Don’t Be Tempted By the Size of Someone’s Audience
There was an interview I did with a podcast guest who had a very notable following! (Like hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram.)
But at the end of the day, our audiences didn’t align. They weren’t even remotely close to one another.
Yet, I got caught up in the shiny false promise of:
Big Audience = Big Potential Listeners
And that didn’t happen.
Not even close.
And I felt like I compromised my own integrity chasing vanity metrics.
Be true to yourself, your audience, and always try to add with all of your podcast guests!
