Why Your Podcast Isn’t Growing
I don’t like being the Debbie Downer…
But there are 4 main reasons that your podcast hasn’t been growing. If you’ve seen your numbers stagnate in the last 6-12 months, there’s a reason. And ignoring it – like the stopped-up sink your kids keep spitting toothpaste in – will only make things messier.
Before we dive into the one main topic I want to cover today, I wanted to make sure you knew that I’m hosting a training all about the “4 Reasons Your Podcast ISN’T Growing and What to Do About It”! You can register here. Our first training is on Jan 18th!
But today, I wanted to dive into one of the reasons in-depth why your podcast isn’t growing.
You Don’t Know How to Ask!
Not knowing how to ask people to listen to your show…
Will keep your podcast from growing and being the show you dreamed about!
If you’ve found yourself annoyed by the number of times you say to your audience, “There’s a new episode today. You should listen,” but then, what happens? Nothing. Absolutely nothing happens. No one listens and you’re left wondering, “Why?”
WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT:
If you’re still feeling awkward or weird about promoting your content, we’ve got to fix that! It’s like having the best-kept secret for your audience but you don’t know how to tell them where to find it.
And the best way to get over not wanting to promote your own content is to take a step back and ask the question, “How does this add value to my audience? Why should they listen? What can I say that will compel them to pick up their phone and press PLAY?”
As a side note, please don’t outsource all of your podcast marketing. You – the content creator – are the best person to market your podcast. You know what the content is. You know what your audience wants to hear. And you are the best person to tell others about your podcast.
