WHAT’S THIS EPISODE ABOUT?

Here’s Why You Need a Blog for Your Podcast

There are a few key reasons why you need a blog for your podcast, but I’ll keep ithem short and to the point. Before we dive into those though, I wanted to make it clear that you need a place to drive traffic besides your podcasdt for people to interact with you. That’s where a blog for your podcast comes in. With a blog you can:

  • Grow your email list
  • Offer a product for sale
  • Have someone sign up for your services

What does a Podcast “Blog Post” Look Like?

Well, you’re reading one right now. This is what I would consider a blog for your podcast. They can look different, come in all shapes/sizes/fonts, but the overall objective is the same: to take the relationship further with your audience! Whether you’re trying to build credibility, give your audience more information, or simply have a place for people to connect with you in new ways, a blog can accomplish all of those.

Here is what your blog post needs to include:

  • Audio File
  • Supporting Info About the Episode

What NOT to Include in Your Blog for Your Podcast

There is a common misconception about having a blog for your podcast. Some podcasters think it’s a good idea to take a transcription of the audio, throw it on a webpage and call it a day! But, please…I beg you, please do not do that! It’s lazy, messy, and won’t attract people to your podcast. Lazy and messy don’t translate to helpful and memorable.

What NOT to Include:

  • Messy Transcription of Your Audio File

Again, this doesn’t serve any value to your audience. It may be good for additional SEO purposes to have your keywords on a webpage, but the “user experience” is more important to me than SEO. If you’re blog posts are ugly, people won’t be on your webpage for very long anyway. (Which can hurt your SEO in the longrun!)
